Feeling good in your body and mind: physical activity promotes well-being

Our mental health is an essential part of our health in general. It is vital because it affects not only our behaviour, but also our way of thinking, communicating, learning and more. Poor mental health can prevent us from flourishing in our lives and achieving fulfilment. It’s not something to be taken lightly!

Practicing a sport is unquestionably one of the most effective ways to feel good about oneself. While the benefits of physical activity are proven and indisputable when it comes to mental health, they are much less obvious in comparison to the benefits of physical activity on physical health.

Do what you love

Practicing a sport is therefore strongly advised, but you need to choose what to do. Engaging in one or more physical activities that you enjoy is really important. It’s pointless to force yourself to do something you don’t like, because if you aren’t motivated, you won’t achieve the desired results. The more you enjoy the activity, the greater the sense of well-being that comes from it!

A number of studies show that doing at least one type of physical activity helps reduce anxiety and promotes healthy sleep patterns. It especially improves one’s sense of well-being along with one’s ability to manage stress. It even helps boost mental performance, like memory and learning!

Liking what you see!

In physical terms, there are certain criteria that can affect your mental well-being. Just seeing how your muscles are changing or noticing your weight loss will help you feel better about yourself. Engaging in physical activity on a regular basis improves your self-image, skill, endurance and strength. It will also help raise your self-esteem.

So don’t wait any longer – get up and go expend some energy! To make your sessions even more beneficial and motivating, do your exercise to music and in good company. You can ask one or more friends to train with you. You can encourage one another and won’t even notice the time passing! Don’t forget: having the right motivation is the key to attaining your objectives.
